The first school was in the cabin of King's steamer "Last Chance," which was moved onto the land of Julius HASS, 105-71, Sec. 26 SW. The land description agrees with GLORecords (online) for Julius HASS. Patentees in Lyman Co. included HASS, Julius, Henry, Grace, & Paul Bernhart, all in the same vicinity: 105-71, in Sections 20 to 27. The Herrmann SCHOLZ patent was 105-73, 8 SE. John T. & Peter RUTAN patented in 104-71, 4 & 9. There were many KING patents in Lyman County. Herman Robert SCHOLZ was b. 13 Je. 1901, Lyman Co., to Herman Carl SCHOLZ & Bertha Caroline KEICKBUSCH, per SD Births site.
