Check this website www.farmandhome publishers.com they do publish county directories. A more reasonably priced idea is to write to the counties' courthouse to get a county map showing townships and range, you might try the register of deeds office or the county highway office. Good luck with your search.

Early Settlers of Lyman County: Andrew KENOBBIE hitchhiked from Wisconsin to Chamberlain and walked across the pontoon bridge to Oacoma in 1900. He homesteaded ten miles northeast of Reliance on Section 14. He married Mary KRAUSE. Fred KENOBBIE bought a lot in Presho, 9 N 1905, and built and owned a general store with Ed KENZY & Gene MARTIN. Fred & Mable KENOBBIE lived in the back of the store. Their first child was born in Oacoma and died of diphtheria. Their second child Edward "Buster" KENOBBIE was the first child born in Presho, 3 Apr. 1906. They had nine more children. The store had an outside stairway to the second story where dances and other gatherings were held. The store was also a trading post for the Indians, as Fred could speak their language. The book has a photo of the "General Merchandise" store, which burned down in the 1950's. Alfred and Alta KENOBBIE m. 12 Apr. 1928 and operated a hotel and cafe until 1941, when they returned to the family farm. Their children were Patricia, John, and Mary, about whom the book includes more information. Mr. & Mrs. Roy KENOBBIE lived on the former Paulson farm north of Oacoma. John KENOBBIE was mentioned as a neighbor by Hazel [SHOEMAKER] NORTON. My cousin is looking for the ancestry of the above families and for the descendants of Albert KENOBBIE & Hazel CLELAND. The one with the most complete story is Robert McCORMICK, who married Mary _ in Feb. 1906, and left Egan, Moody Co., SD, to homestead five miles southeast of what is now Vivian, SD. Robert's two brothers, Will & Frank, and sister Rose also had claims. Robert McCORMICK & Mary had Roy (Nov. 1906 - ca.1969), Henrietta (1908 - _, who m. Millard HARVEY [20 Jan. 1906 - 22 July 1992]) , and Ruth (5 May 1909 - Nov. 1989) who m. Elwyn MOWRY (4 S 1908 - Sept.1986, Vivian). Ruth provided the history. Mary's parents came from Norway to Minnesota. Mary was eldest of nine children and didn't speak English until she was nine years old. Robert McCORMICK's grandparents came from Ireland and Scotland (?) to Minnesota and then to Dakota Territory. One brother was probably Frank David McCORMICK, b. 27 Aug. 1878, Moody Co., SD, son of Robert McCORMICK & Mary McCAULLEY.
