I am connected to the Herbert family mentioned. FORMER HILLS RESIDENT DEAD CUSTER--Mrs. Charles Baker, a former resident of Custer County, died at Walla Walla, Wash., recently, according to word received here. Mrs. Baker, the former Sylvia E. Kinsey, was born Dec 27, 1891, near Buffalo Gap. Her parents moved to a ranch on French Creek, and on Dec. 21, 1910, she was married to Charles Baker. The couple lived on the old Baker ranch for 25 years before moving to Milton-Freewater, Ore., in 1938. Survivors include her husband, three sons, Bernard, Walnut Creek, Calif.; Howard, Walla Walla, and Mervin, Lewiston, Idaho; three sisters, Mrs. Harvey Herbert and Mrs. Vet Scofield, both of Custer, and Mrs. Gladys Stanhope, Freewater, and five grandchildren.
