My great Grandfather William Brainard BROOKS died in Buffalo Gap, SD, 14 June 1886. He had been pensioned as a Civil War Veteran and his attending Doctor was Dr. E.V. Blachley or Blackley at Buffalo Gap (hard to read Pension papers submitted by his widow so she could continue to get widow's benefits) I know she subsequently lived in Hot Springs, SD. (My Grandparents, her son Eugene C. and Mary E. Bruette Brooks were married in her home in Hot Springs in 1890) Hot Springs, Fall River Co., I have their marriage certificate. Have not found the whereabouts of the burial site of William Brainard BROOKS, is there a Cemetery in Buffalo Gap where Civil War Veterans are interred? Would Death Certificates have been filed in 1886? His widow, my Great Grandmother Margaret BUMP BROOKS traveled wherever her children were and my Grandparents lived in Norwich, N.Y. when she came to be with them and she died there, so is buried in Mt.
