Hoping to find more information on my line I started at the top, but was stopped short by the claim that all Stillman descendants have a Royal connection to Charlemagne etc through Deborah Crandall. Wrong! There are so many errors around the ancestory of Deborah Crandall and her father Elder John Crandall of Rhode Island, that it is hard to know where to start. It is clear that much of the erroneous info was "planted" by John Cortland Crandall who gave us so much good information in his 1949 work, but the Stillman site adds even more wishful thinking. The Crandall Family Association is supporting new research and the CFA web-site has much of the best available. See the explanations of the errors in the 1949 Crandall Genealogy and exciting new information on the Crandall family in England and of origins of the name. So far, there is no indication of Royal lineage, no royal crest and no Elizabeth Drake. Try the CFA web-site and perhaps join with us to continue the research.
