Bayard Alvin Rood, son of Charles J. and Rosa Furrow Rood, was born Nov. 27, 1894, at North Loop, Neb., and died May 18, 1958, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Denver, Colorado. Mr. Rood, with his wife, Betty, moved to Boulder, Colo., in 1933. He engaged in agricultural pursuits until forced by ill health in 1952 to become inactive. He was baptized in 1934 and joined the Boulder Seventh Day Baptist Church where he remained a loyal and beloved member till his death. He is survived by his wife of 536 Maxwell, Boulder, and their daughter, Deane (Mrs. Donald) Payne, of Dodge Center, Minn. Also surviving are a brother, Byron of Milton, Wis.; seven sisters: Mrs. Martin Nelson and Miss Elsie Rood, also of Milton; Mrs. Charles Harmon of Oxford, Neb.; Mrs. Henry Williams, Mrs. Nina Lewis, Mrs. Hugh Whitford, and Miss Marcia Rood, all of North Loup, Neb. Memorial services were conducted by his pastor on May 22, and interment was in Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colo. "The Sabbath Recorder", Vol 207, No 6, p 30, June, 1985. Birdie "Betty" Marie Galt, of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, died March 31, 1985, at Prairie Manor Nursing Home where she had lived since suffering a stroke two and one-half years ago. The former Birdie Marie Van Horn was born July 22, 1900, near Deadwood, South Dakota, and moved with the family to North Loup, Nebraska, in 1905. She married Baird Alvin Rood on August 29, 1921, and he died in May, 1958. She married Hamilton S. Galt May 15, 1965, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He died July 9, 1972. She moved to Blooming Prairie in January of 1979. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Deane) Payne of West Concord, Minnesota; a step-daughter, Mrs. Henry (Lorraine) Heggelund of California; seven grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers, four sisters, a granddaughter and two great-grandsons. Funeral services were conducted by Pastor Paul B. Osborn at the Seventh Day Baptist Church in Dodge Center, Minnesota, at 2 p.m. on April 4, 1985. Interment was in the Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center. P. B. O.
