I asked Rootsweb to reactive the list so I could pass along some urgent information. The list currently has 68 subscribers. Notice from Rootsweb - Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state. Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb. As an alternative to RootsWeb Mailing Lists, Ancestry message boards are a great option to network with others in the genealogy community. Message boards are available for free with an Ancestry registered account. Hosted Sites and WorldConnect will continue to be up, running and maintained. Thank you for being part of the RootsWeb family and contributing to this community. -------------------------------------------- That said, I wanted to ask folks here if they would like me to set up a new home for the list? I actually referred to this list when a query came up in central New York about the SDBs. That's when I discovered that the list had gone inactive. I found fromnew list and add me Ralph Thomassjtret@aol.com my archives of Jon in Omaha many things I could pass along. Please let me hear from you regarding this list. I'd like to look at Jon Saunders' Facebook page but I can't find it. There are 3 pages given for that name but none of them look like the SDB Jon Saunders.Carole Cropley -----Original Message----- From: Joy Bowser <bowser1@glasscity.net> To: sdb <sdb@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tue, Jan 28, 2020 5:37 am Subject: [SDB] Re: Status of the SDB list 2020 Awesome! A new home for the SDB list has been set up. Later today (Wednesday), I'll send out personal invitations to the subscribers of this list. It should be a link you can click that will let you 'accept' the invitation to join the new group. You may need to check your spam folder as I can't say when such will be delivered. Of course, folks may still post to this list through 3/1. Tim Stowell list admin
Yes, Jon made several trips to retrieve those many obits from old copies of the SDB records, and he even took special requests (including mine). And then he painstakingly transcribed them and shared them for all of us, furthering our research. I'll be forever grateful! I found from my archives of Jon in Omaha many things I could pass along. Please let me hear from you regarding this list. Would that be Jon Saunders? I feel like maybe he has passed on? Not sure. I would like to have some kind of contact. I was relatively new in 2001 and had used a lot of information early on. It was wonderful to connect with many Davis cousins here. Please set up a new home for the SDB list. Ancestry.com would work for me. I have not used the list in a long time, but certainly appreciate it for the history it has preserved, both for my family and others. Let me know if another list is created - my family was entirely SDB until my generation, and I must be related to 3/4 of the list. Hey everyone- Just got back from Berne IN yesterday. I spent some time with Katherine, their Heritage Room librarian. I was able to look through some history books and glean a little more info on the non Seventh Day Baptist branch of Jacob Loofboro's brother Ebenezar and Wade's son, John and a little more on their families. If anyone wants me to send this information on let me know. Also this- Indiana law changed about 5 years ago, If you want anything from the courthouse, you may as well write, or e-mail for it as new law does not allow the public access to "public records" anymore. They can only be retrieved by county clerks. So there is that. Hope this e-mail group is still open and usable- I can't remember who was from which branches but I think someone was from Emily Loofboro and William Kelley, if so let me know! I have some information on a group William may have belonged to along with John Loofbourrow (Wade's son.) Joy Bowser A WIFE AND A WITNESS
