Looking for someone who is researching Lewis Ezell and Hannah McSwain or the families of either of them. I need to determine if this Lewis Ezell is the same as the one whose will was recorded in Lauderdale County Alabama on 8 Nov 1841. This Lewis Ezell was my 3rd great grandfather and was married, first, to Nancy Rogers, daughter of Jonathan and Priscilla Rogers (source: David Ezell Bible) This confirms that one Lewis Ezell was married to one Hannah McSwain: Estate records of John McSwain, York Co., SC, Case #60, File #2749: .....To any sheriff or lawful deputy - Whereas Lewis Ezell one of the legatees of John McSwain, dec'd. in right of his wife, Hannah, made complaint to me that Chas. Darnell (Darnall - sp) and Sarah Bradford Executor to sd. John McSwains (word ran off paper on copy) refuses or neglects to make a settle on said estate and pay to said Lewis Ezell his legacy agreeably to will of said deceased.... 6 Oct 1813.
