Hi: While you brought up Native Americans from York, I am looking for some. The name (no surprise) is HARRIS. I am looking for John HARRIS, father of Dovie Irene Harris. Children of John: Sallie (md a WRIGHT), Susie Glendora (md. Samuel WRIGHT), Dovie (md. Simon Haskell FERRELL), Anna (died young), Betsy (md. 1st THREATT), 2nd AYERS?) and Willie (died at 18 yrs.) John HARRIS married 3 women, all named Jane. The mother of my Dovie was Jane JENKINS). Birthdate of John would be around August, 1841. Father of John HARRIS was said to be Jackson HARRIS (b. ca 1819, d. ca 1860), mother Lucinda (b. ca 1824 d. ca 1870). Dovie was born 1890 in Lancaster, S.C., lived in Ft. Mill. Her father was reported to be part Catawba. That info seems reasonable. Anyone have anything?
