York County, South Carolina, Will Book A, P. 358 Original will filed as Case 64, File 457 Will of William Wright State of South Carolina In the name of God Amen, I William Wright of the State of South Carolina and District of York being sick and weak in body but of sound mind memory and understanding (praised be God for it) and considering the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time thereof and to the end I may be the better prepared to leave this world when ever it shall please God to call me home do there fore make and declare this my last will and testament in manner following (that is to say) first principally I commend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God my Creator hoping for free pardon and remission of all my sins and to enjoy everlasting happiness in his Heavenly Kingdom through Jesus Christ my Savior; my body I commit to the Earth at the discretion of my executors herein after named; and as to such worldly estate as I am possessed of, I give and bequeath in the manner as followeth first I give and allow my wife her living of my land her life-time if she chooses it and a Negro woman Cal'd Dinah to work for her, and here own two beds and furniture not to destroy the land or timber unnecessarily and if she moves away of the land the Negro woman to be give up to the estate I likewise allow her a bay horse while she lives on the plantation and the remainder of all my property I allow to be sold and equally divided betwixt my children John William Polly and Sally allowing the heirs of Allan Reeves Deceas'd one third of a share to be equally divided amongst them I allow William Lytle to keep what property he has already got and a note that I have upon him, to be gave up to him, it is my desire that my son William shall pay my estate no interest for what money he owes me...Lastly I nominate and appoint my two Sons John and William Wright executors of this my last will and testament revoking all former wills by me made in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Eleventh day of October 1813.
