Looking for information on a Charles Hettley of South Carolina. He may have been born in another county in SC other than York but married Margaret Hall born June 17, 1764 of York Co. sometime after 1789. Margaret and Charles were the center of a court case in October 1789: York Co., SC Mintue¹s of the County Court 1786-1797 page70 October 1789 State vs. Margaret Hall, Bastardy. Margaret Hall came and made oath that she was delivered of a famale child (bastard) on May 5th last. That said child was born in this county, said that Charles Heatley and no other is the father of said bastard child, which said Charles Heatley she supposes lives in the lower parts of this state. Said Margaret fined 3.11.6 + costs, not to be collected for 3 months which Prudence Hall & John Patteson enters themselves security to pay.
