    3. You may have all this but I send it just in case: William Hart McCorkle was elected probate judge of York County in 1888. He was born 25 August 1821 at Ebenezer. Had a common-school education. Married Margaret L. Robinson, 15 Feb 1849 and married, second, Mrs. Elva (Grier) Dixon, 16 Aug 1860. She died 4 Dec 1884. McCorkle farmed until 19 and in 1840 began clerking for Andrew Hutchison, drygoods dealer. When the Civil War broke out he raised a volunteer company, Palmer Guards, Co. A., 12th Reg, SC Vol. Wounded at Sharpsburg. He left the regiment as lieutenant-colonel. After the war began merchandising again with partner John H. Adams under the name Adams and McCorkle until July 1875. Served 8 terms as mayor of Yorkville. Elected York County Judge of Probate in 1888. Died, age 83, on 15 Feb 1904. By his first wife had one son, Robert R. McCorkle and by the second marriage two children, Mrs. B. N. Moore and Paul G. McCorkle.
