    3. I am searching York Co., SC for the three families mentioned above, the Dye, Pratt, and Childers. I know the Dye and Childers families have been connected somehow, and I'm wishing to find out exactly. The exact head of households I am looking for is the Perry and Letha Dye, John and Jane Childers, and William B. Pratt and family. Perry Dye and John and Jane Childers lived next door in 1870 census. Then their son Samuel B. Dye and John and Jane Childers' sons James and John Childers moved to Texas at the same time. In the 1880 Lamar Co., TX Census Samuel B. Dye is head o9f household with his mother Letha living with him. And John Childers is also living with Samuel B. Dye named as his Nephew. James Childers at this time is living in Delta Co., TX living with William B. Pratt also from York Co., SC. Any help on connecting these families is very appreciated. Thanks, Jay Odom

    3. Does anyone have any information on the following individuals buried in Bullocks Creek Presbyterian Church cemetery? MICKLE, Ann E. (Ann Ellen Graham), July 31, 1829-Nov. 20, 1889 (her birth year is reversed on the York County SC GenWeb Site) MICKLE, Rev. J. (Jonathan Belton), May 7, 1819-Jan. 9,1892 Ann was the daughter of James Graham of Chester County and the sister of Thomas Milliken Graham of Chester, York and Mecklenburg Counties. Thomas was my gg-grandfather. J.B., born in Camden, was a lawyer, newspaper editor and obviously became a minister at some point after their marriage in 1855. Ann was his second wife. Margaret Wylie Mickle, also buried there, was their oldest daughter but I don't have information on the other children. I would appreciate hearing from any descendents.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/FdB.2ACE/501 Message Board Post: William McElwee, II was born in Tyronne, Ireland, in 1718. According to tradition his grandfather came to Ireland from County Ross, Scotland, and was a member of Clan Ross. William McElwee I was born in County Tyronne, Ireland. He had at least two sons--David and William II. It was the author's opinion that John McElwee, who lived at Abbeville, SC, prior to the time William McElweeII moved to SC was another son. David and William McElwee II emigrated to America in 1750 landing at Philadelphia, PA. They first lived in PA, where in 1757, William McElwee II married Janet Black born 1738. He then moved to Brunswick Co., VA about 30 miles south ofPetersburg, which is now Greenville Co., Here his first 3 children were born: James on Aug 18, 1758;, William III on August 28, 1762; and Jon Calvin on AJan 19, 17656. In the summer of 1785 he moved to Clarks Fork of Bullocks Creek in York District of SC which was being settled by a colony of Scotch and Irish. The area was then thought to be in NC and on Oct 30, 1765, he received a grant of 200 acres of land on both sides of Clarks Fork of Bullock's Creek from the State of NC. In 1772 the boundary line between North and South arolina was established to be about 3 miles north of his home place. Here he built a home of hewn logs, being a 2-story house containing 4 rooms, a basement, porch and massive granite block and brick chimney. The f! ireplace inside was 9 feet wide and 7 feet high. William II was a weaver by trade, in addition to being a farmer. He died in Jun 1807 age 89. Jane Black McElwee died Dec 25, 1825. Both are buried at Pisgoh Churchyard, York, SC
