My Carroll ancestors lived in Bullock's Creek, York County. I would really like to know about the Presbyterian church there. Patti Carlton Houston
Where in York County, SC is Bullock Creek Presbyterian Church located? I would also like to know the name of the pastor of this church. In addition I need the address and phone number. And it would be great to communicate with a member of the congregation. By chance does anybody know if there are any memorial windows in this church? I am looking for a window dedicated to the memory of Albert Leland Purcell (1862-1914) who is buried in the church cemetery. Any help with these questions will be greatly appreciated. There is also a William Ware who married a Farries in Chester Co, later they moved to York County (Rockhill) The rest of the family later moved to Arkansas after the civil war. Claude Ware

Abner Bell was my great, great, great grandfather, b. 1788 in PA & migrated to SC. His wife was Elizabeth Farris, Faries, Fa??-we just don't know the last name. We believe that Jackson was his son, and we know that Ellenora was Jackson's wife. It would appear that since the Lilly children were younger and staying with the Bells that there was some kinship. I would be glad to share any information with you, & I'll also keep your Lilly family in mind if I see info that would be of help to you. In what state do you live? Thank you. I have found Jeremiah Perry in the 1820, 1830, and 1840 SC census returns. -20 and -30 in York Co., -40 in Chester. By 1850 they are living in Pontotoc Co., MS. In the household at that time are Philemon, 19; Frederick, 17; Nancy, 14; Rhoda, 12; Rebecca, 10; Temperance, 7; and Ruth, 5. All born in the Carolinas. However, these names do not account for the children enumerated in the 1830 and 1840 census returns. Can someone help me? It would appear that several of the children might have been old enough to have married and perhaps stayed in SC when the parents and younger children moved to MS. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you, Sharon Bryant

Some time prior to 1978 two memorial windows were dedicated to Albert Leland Purcell and William P. Ratchford at the Sharon Presbyterian Church in York County, SC. Seeking information on when these windows were dedicated as well as information on Albert Leland Purcell and William P. Ratchford. Who were these men and what was their contribution to the Sharon community? Are they buried in Sharon? What are their birth and death dates? Also who is the current pastor of Sharon Presbyterian Church and what is the address/phone number of the church? I would also like to make contact with any Purcell family members remaining in York County. I understand that the Purcells came from Mecklenburg County, NC to York County, SC. Dear Deborah: James Akin was born about 1770/1780 in Tyron County, NC. He died in Van Buren County, AR, before 1850. He married Susannah Swan in Livingston, KY, 27 July 1805. Susannah was born 1787 in York County, SC, and died before 1860 in Van Buren County, AR. Their son Samuel C. Akin was born 1818 in Independence County, AR. He first married Satilla Jane Griggs in 1839 in Van Buren County, AR; second marriage in 1854 to Mary McAlister. There are not many persons named Lorene so that is a real coincidence. Could someone do a census lookup for 1860 on ABNER BELL in York County, SC? I would certainly appreciate this. He may be living with one of his children. In 1850, York County, SC, he was head of household with his daughter, Cynthia Shepherd. I think he was still in York County in 1860. Thanks for any help anyone can give me. Carole
Would appreciate any info on JAMES CLINTON who was listed in the YORK CO. 1800 census with a head count of 40110-10101-01. Particularily interested in the names of the four males under the age of 10 at this census. Or any clue about if and when this family left the area and where they went. Have lots of Clinton info and willing to share Joanne
