I am looking for information on my G-G-G-Grandfather, John Adair. I don't know if he was born in York, York SC or not, but he married Jean Faires of York , I believe in York SC sometime in the 1780's. Their son James T. Adair was born June 8, 1790. There may have been another son by the name of William but I'm not sure. There may have been more children that I don't know about. I would love to have any information that anyone can give me or direct me on how to find out more about them. Thanks so much.

Sorry I did look at the wrong one while putting in message. This one you look at the cesus yourself. http://www.Census-oneline.com/links/SC_datahtml This one is for lookups. @ names per E Mail. http://www.rootsweb.com/~uslookup/schtml Hope they are right. I tried the one you sent back and it worked. If you already are in part of the link then just put in what starts as being different. Maxine [email protected]
Maxine, thank you for posting the look-up lists for the York County SC 1850 census. Would you please check the addresses, are you sure they are correct? Do you really mean www.census-oneline.com or is it something else, like census-online.com or on-line.com?
Hi Census Lookers I had gone to the 1850 and put in Favorites several sites. http://wwwrootsweb.com/~uslookupschtml and http://www.census-oneline.com/links/sc_data.html don't forget the hard to see short line between sc and data. I hope as I checked i copied them right. let me know if not. I think I went to the 1850 census in the second one listed. A hardcopy of the 1850 York Co. census is (or was) available from the Broad River Genealogical Society, P.O. Box 2261, Shelby NC 28151-2261. Costs was $25.00 They have census books from different periods from neighboring NC counties as well. I think they still have a list of all their publications on their website, but I am having trouble connecting to the web right now, so can't give you that URL. I find it truly helpful to be able to sit at leisure and study the surrounding families and look for names that were misspelled etc. by having a hardcopy of the census. I am willing to do limited lookups in my copy, but please limit your requests and don't expect an immediate response (I do not get on my computer much during the week). Janelle Dixon

James, Culbert Means Laney was my GG-maternal Grandfather. He was born `1782 in Antrim, PA (Cumberland County) and moved (along with his parents and siblings) to York County, SC as a child and was raised there. In 1811 he moved to what is now Simpson County, KY. His father was John Laney who was the son of Joseph Laney (born in Ireland). Culbert had a son named William Laney, and also a brother named William Laney. If this is the Laney lineage you are researching, let me know and I'll send you everything that I have on this line. If your brother, Rudy, is also working on this line please give him my e-mail address. Is there an 1850 census (York County) that can be downloaded so we can look at it and/or copy it? Can you give me an e-mail address to pull up the names on the 1850 and prior census records for SC??? I am also quite interested in SC census records that would show Boutwell, Jenkins, Walters, and Blackledge. If anyone from the states of Georgia and Alabama reads my search please contact me .... Thanks! :o)
When I wish to use an Internet address that someone has given me, I highlight the address, go to my edit button, click on copy, then go to my browser and click on the place where the address goes, and the go to the edit button and click pastel. That way I do not have to retype the address and do not make errors.
