Joyce, Thank you so much and thank you to the person who asked for this info. I, unexpectedly, found an ancestor there. Frances C. Smarr that mar. Dr. R. F. Love. Are there any Smarr, Plaxico, or Davis buried there? I appreciate very much your time in doing these look-ups. Thanks again in advance, Nancy

My Freemans & McKnights attended church & the Freemans are buried there. Oh, please, Suzanne, if you can put Bethesda Cem. on line, I'm sure I have relatives buried there. Two of Daniel McMILLAN'S daughters married into my GIBSON line. Daniel McMILLAN moved to southern Illinois in the early half of the 1800s. For all of you interested in Laurelwood Cemetery records. Last week I said there was a list but it was not alphabetized. Yesterday I went to the local history room in the county library to check whether or not Laurelwood records were in the card catalog of York County cemetery listings. It is not. The card catalog contains all church cemeteries and private family cemeteries. Laurelwood is owned by the city of Rock Hill. Now, the good news is that since June 22, 1999 there is an alphetized list of burials in Laurelwood (no birthdates or death dates but burial dates). I was told that Ms Anne Wylie/Wyley? and employee in the Public Works division had, on her own run off a computer listing sorted by names of those buried. There are five city owned cemeteries: Barber Memorial (Black); Forest Hills; Hebrew; Laurelwood and Laurel Wood Old (this last is a separate listing). Here is what the listing has as categories: Location; Grave (a number); Owner (person who bought the plot(s)); Deceased (name); Date (date buried only); Order (the date the plot was purchased); Amount (price of plot); Receipt Number; and amount Paid (many had .01 as the amount paid and prices escalated over recent years to $1,000). There are no more available for purchase. Laurelwood Cemetery was opened in 1872 according to Mrs. Douglas Summers Brown's history of Rock Hill, CITY WITHOUT COBWEBS. That must be Old Laurelwood. I did not see any 1870s burials in the Laurelwood printout. Grave #24 was of James B. Bynum who was buried Dec 21, 1887, for instance. I hope this clears the matter.
Are any old records available for the Bethesda Presbyterian Church which is located in southern York Co. on the headwaters of Fishing Creek? Alexander MCGAUGHEY attended church there around 1800-1802. I'd like any records regarding him or any other MCGAUGHEYS. Thanks.
In 1836, Samuel and Anna Moore was in newly formed Benton Co., AL. They had four girls b. between c. 1815-1823 and censuses say that all except Anna was b. in SC. Samuel was a Baptist Minister and farmer, and Anna was a Midwife and housewife. Anna Moore may have been a Depriest before marriage. Any help will be appreciated. Paul [email protected]

Cecil and Ernie and anyone else interested. I found the pages in my Barron book regarding Violet Barron Baxter. She was the daughter of John and Jack Duncan Barron and granddaughter of Archibald Barron. She was born 1803. She married Andrew Baxter in 1823. There are two pages on this family, including children's names and later pages on each child. (p. 173-174). Page 73 also lists all of sisters and borthers of Violet. There are a number of pages covering her sisters and brothers and their families. If you can still get the book, it would be a good thing to have. If you are unable to get a book, I will try to answer specific questions that you have. There is also a will of Violet's father, John, which mentions Violet and her husband Andrew Baxter. Let me know what you need and I will try to help you. Mary E.
