This Boyd thing can get confusing. It has confused me. I originally thought my 3gr grandfather was Robert Boyd; however, I have since concluded that my 3 gr grandfather was JOHN P. BOYD (~1799-6 June 1844). His wife was NANCY WILSON PATTON (another long time York County name). One of their children was MARTHA JANE BOYD, who married JOHN MARION (Jock) ROBINSON (another York Co name). I have some believe that NANCY WILSON PATTON may also have a relationship with another ancestor in my line, MINERVA JANE PATTON who married WILLIAM HORTON. I could believe that Minerva was Nancy's niece, but can't prove it. Nancy and William Horton's son, WILLIAM REUBEN HORTON, married Martha Jane and Jock Robinson's daughter, NANCY ANN ROBINSON in 1887, and their daughter, Onnie Horton was my grandmother. On another note, I am at a loss to find anything about MARY ELIZABETH FALLS, who married ROBERT FARRIS around 1830. Their daughter SARAH ANN FARIS (Garrison) FARRIS is my 2gr grandmother. Anyone who might be a relative, please chime in. I feel like I must be related to everyone in York Co, SC.

This information ,mostly, from the book, "Peiter Heyl and His Descendants" by Elizabeth Hoyle Rucker includes two succeeding generations. I have some information on the next generation in Roxanna's line. Katherine Elizabeth Rhyne is a cousin and I am related to the Glenn's, Falls' , and Craig families of the area. The earliest Boyd of York Co, SC that I have is Elizabeth M Boyd (1801-1870) who married William Glenn, also of York Co. Her sister, Sarah Neel Boyd (1804-1885), married Robert Henry Craig. Other Boyd's that I have that may interest you: Daniel Marcus Boyd (1905-1966) m. Sarah Priscilla Glenn on Oct 10, 1936 Essie S Boyd m. Samuel Sylvester Glenn ( 1875- ?) Isaac David Boyd m. Sarah Nancy Smith (b c1849 in York Co, SC) *Robert O'Neal Boyd (1906-1938) m. Ida Grace Stacy m Mar 20, 1934 In York Co,SC * He was a doctor who treated me when I was a child. My problem with these Boyd's is that I do not know if they are related to one another and if so, how to tie them together. Can you tie any of these together? Roy Robinson

Seeking information on the BOYD families of York County. My 3rd great grandfather was Robert Boyd b. 1805 in South Carolina ( most likely York County ). He bought 153 acres on the Catawba River from a Thomas Boyd. The deed was recorded 05 March 1832, in York Cty. I have a copy of a will for a Thomas Boyd probated 07 May 1838, which states Thomas had a son named Robert, but I am not sure if it is my Robert. The 1850 York Cty. Census has Robert( my 3rd g. grandfather) listed with his wife Elizabeth and their children. Sarah Elimina Mary Roxanna Robert Franklin ( my 2Nd great grandfather) Daniel William Worth In 1853, Robert sold the 153 acres to James Glenn. He bought land in Gaston County, NC, in 1853 and lived there until his death in 1881. I am also interested in these surnames: HAWKINS,STARNES,PARKER,GOLEY,WILLIAMS Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This probably won't help you, but my gr-gr-gr grandfather was John P. Boyd (~1799-1844). He married Nancy Wilson Patton and most probably lived in York County for most of their lives. Your Boyd and mine might have been brothers. A potential father might have been Richard Boyd who shows up in the York Co 1800 census, but that is real speculation. David Camp
Thanks, Roxsanne. That's what I thought. AOL will not accept some links either, and also, there are web pages that AOL has trouble opening. Also, it's not just Prodigy, but a lot of internet servers that cannot open AOL links. I'm not alone. I've had 4 different servers, and none accept AOL links. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, October 13, 1999 8:07 PM Subject: Re: [SCYORK] Links > I checked with the computer expert at work and he usually has the answer. > Prodigy will not accept links from AOL. Hi Robert, Thanks for answering my message.I wish I knew more about the church, but I don`t.I have been told that there were some BABER`s and CROW`s buried in the church cemetery. And also that some of them attended that church. But that is all I have to go on at this time. All I know is what I have from newspaper article from Yorkville Enquirer, dated in 30 April 1857. I have also been told that there are some BABER`s buried in Beth Shiloh Presbyterian Church cemetery and Philadelphia United Methodist cemetery. I heard from another BABER researcher whose uncle, Luther Grier BABER was well known in York. His father is buried in Tirzah,A.R.P.Church cemetery. His grandfather is buried Beth Shilo Presbyterian Church Cemetery and his grgreatgrandfather is buried in Rose Hill cemetery. We having been corresponding for awhile and have not connected as of yet! Thanks again for responding to my post! Vicki ===== __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Re: Chris Warren of Clover SC. Do you have any dates?
I AM TRYING TO FIND THE ROOTS OF CHRIS WARREN WHO LIVED IN CLOVER THIS FAMILY WAS/IS BLACK THEY HAD RELATIVES IN SEVERAL COUNTIES
I have the info on J. Stanford Camp from the Confederate Veterans Books. I do not have a roster of the 12th SCV Company A. If you have that I would like to be able to post it. The 17th, 18th & 12th all fought at Gainesville. Links for that battle can be found on the 17th or 18th pages. I don't know about Gaines Mill. I live by Gainesville VA and never heard of Gaines Mill. If this is a different battle than Gainesville I would like to have any info you may have. Also if you will send me any info you have on J. Stanford Camp to put on the 12th A page some day. Roxsanne

On the matter of whether Akin/Eakin, etc. could have also been written as Adkins, I doubt it. But take a look at the following information on people who spelled their names either Adkins or Atkins and conclude for yourself. ADKINS: 1. Hanover Co, Va. Court Records, 1733-1735: Deeds, Wills and Inventories. Abstracted and Compiled by Rosalie Edith Davis, pp. 140-42. Indent 4 Sept. 1734. Witness: Adam Chisholme, Thomas Turner, 7 Nov. 1734 Ack. by Lewis Atkins. [ This thought possibly to be origins of York County Adkins/Atkins family because of the use of "Lewis" which is not common, because a Thomas Turner came to the area and because the Pettuses and Harrises, who were neighbors and intermarried were from Hanover County, Va.---not conclusive but enough of a coincidence that it should be considered.] 1.
