    2. William G. Bates
    3. Not my BATES family because according to Allen Bates, youngest full brother of John Bates Jr, on a rebuttal to his sister’s intestate probate his mother was born in Maryland. According to Mary Bates Ellis on the 1850 census she was born 1780 in Maryland. According to John C. Bates, son of Zachariah Bates, on the 1880 census his father was born in D. Columbia. Also according to Allen Bates, and acknowledged by the living children of John Bates Jr, on the Isis Probate Rebuttal his father was born in England. 1. [SCYORK] Looking for wife of James Moore
    2. Jill Lackey
    3. He was born ca 1765, probably in Orange County NC. His parents were Nellie/Armanella/EleanorOates and William Walter Moore from Cumberland Co. PA. The family arrived in York Co., SC around 1790. Many Ancestry sites have his wife as Elizabeth Canning. This cannot be documented and all info I have on Canning suggest she was not James' wife, but I do not know who the wife was. James' children include Armanella, William K., Ebenezer S., and Jackson. The family migrated to Lawrence Co., AL around 1822. By then, the wife was no longer in the household--she'd apparently died.  Because of the shifting borders at the turn of the 18th century between NC and SC, I am not sure which James Moore census records for 1790 and 1800 are my ancestor. I would really like to find any kind of documentation to lead me in the direction of James' wife. Does anyone have any ideas on this?

You will probably have faster results by contacting the Historical Center of York County at 803-684-3948. They have copies of The Quarterly and, hopefully, have the one you are seeking. If you are unable to get the article through either source, please post again. 3. - This mail is in HTML. Some elements may be ommited in plain text. - I really hope you get this fast. I could not inform anyone about our trip, because it was impromptu. we had to be in Philippines for Tour..The program was successful, but our journey has turned sour. we misplaced our wallet and cell phone on our way back to the hotel we lodge in after we went for sight seeing. The wallet contained all the valuables we had. Now, our passport is in custody of the hotel management pending when we make payment. I am sorry if i am inconveniencing you, but i have only very few people to run to now. i will be indeed very grateful if i can get a short term loan from you ($1,450). this will enable me sort our hotel bills and get my sorry self back home. I will really appreciate whatever you can afford in assisting me with. I promise to refund it in full as soon as soon as I return. let me know if you can be of any assistance. Please, let me know soonest. Betty Vaughn
