I don't know if this is your Peguese but according to the book The History of the Old Cheraws by Alexander Gregg, Claudius Pegues settled in the Pee Dee area in the year 1760. The book also states Claudius "being the only man of his name who came to America, is the ancestor of all the Pegues's in our country"
