    3. I don't know if this is your Peguese but according to the book The History of the Old Cheraws by Alexander Gregg, Claudius Pegues settled in the Pee Dee area in the year 1760. The book also states Claudius "being the only man of his name who came to America, is the ancestor of all the Pegues's in our country"

I know that Alice Brown married John Lockler sometime in the 1800's. They had three children: Alston, John Clifton, and Ilee McGee. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

    2. I have some information on a Alice Brown . Something about a root cellar where she hid Jessie James at one time. She was alive in 1976 and lived in Harrisonville, MO. Her father`s name was Robert Allison Brown. He moved to Harrisonville, MO in 1842. I hope this helps some. Diana

    3. Yes - according to my grandmother he was my great grandfather and married to Joanna Nesmith (1854.) But I've just heard from someone that Margaret A. Nesmith, May 29, 1848 - Jan. 2. 1944 "wife of Capt. John Ferdon, Sept 3, 1835 is buried in the Nesmith Cemetery, Turkey Creek -- Nesmith Community, I think in South Carolina So my questions are, Could he have been the Ferdon who was a student, I think< at the Citadel and fought in the Civil War? (but he would have been 26 in 1861. And his son, John Haskell, born in 1864 was said to have been "hidden in the swamp when he was a baby and the yankees came" The swamp being the Okekenofe (sp) in Georgia. And did the Northern troops get that far south?? And did he marry Joanna - who then died - and then Margaret? Were they sisters? The baby (John Haskell) had to have been born in Georgia - to have been hidden in the swamp - but if his mother WAS Joanna, as I've been told, then was Margaret left in SC - and Joanna a second marriage But of course they didn't do that in those days! Help? 3. Sarah Nesmith, 1792, daughter of Samuel...but not of Elizabeth Drew. I don't have the name of her mother, but I'm pretty sure it was not Drew. Samuel's mother was Sarah Barr, the step-daughter of Nathaniel Drew, and frequently called Sarah Drew. Sarah's sister, Mary Barr, married John Brockinton. Sarah married first John Nesmith (who was father of the Samuel above) and after John's death, she married his brother who was also named Samuel. The Barr girls' father was Gavin Barr, who died aboard ship when the big group came from County Antrim. Their mother, Margaret ?? came on to Williamsburg, acquired land and other property and later married Nathaniel Drew There was a son born to this marriage, but he died fairly young and I believe he was unmarried. ....BettyC
