Hi everyone, I was sent these tidbits among others by Betty Mouzon Dunn. While it does not provide absolute proof of a theory many WCSC researchers have held for many years it does open the door. I am among many who felt the families of Willoughby, Isaac and Patrick Parker connect, (all early WCSC residents, bef 1815) and are possibly even brothers. Several clues have surfaced to support this. Here are a few more: Willoughby Parker to Alexander Cook for $100, 100 a, part of a tract of 11,500 a. granted to Robert Fullwood in 1791, situate between Lynches Lake and Black River, and bd. by Willoughby Parker, estate of William Parker, Ketuck Branch, and R. Feagin. Oct. 1832. Wit. Jesse Floyd, Rachel Parker, and James Folly. Rec'd 1 Jan. 1838. pg. 243 Willoughby Parker to Sarah Parker for $50, 250 a. being part of a tract of 857 a. granted William Parker in 1808 on Little Kingstree Swamp, said land to be divided between said Sarah and her brother Patrick Parker during their lives. Wit: Charles McAllister, Jr. and Robert A. Bradham. 8 Jan. 1828. Philip McCrea JQ Rec'd 6 Jan. 1838. I now believe William was the father of Willoughby, Isaac, and Patrick. The bottom reference mentions a sister, Sarah. With Betty's help I have added a father and a sister to my brick wall, thanks Betty. The William mentioned would have been born in NC abt 1770. He was believed to be married to a Sarah (McKenzie?) his son Willoughby b, NC 1792 m Mary McKenzie b abt 1792, dau of Daniel and Rebecca McKenzie. I would like to get some feedback from the group and any additional information on the possible connection of William, and the younger Parkers, and the McKenzie's of N&SC. I realize this is a long post, but this is an old brick wall, and it needs to fall. I have additional information for those interested. Dave daveoahu@aol.com

Alison, Have you been to your local library? I suspect you'll find a book there that will answer every one of your questions - but your classmates may have checked out the book by now. Have you looked on the county website? You might very well find the answers there, as well - though I have not checked the website out for you. I taught seventh grade for over 30 years, and I know that a bright seventh grader - which you appear to be - can do this kind of research very nicely, and I suspect your teacher intended for you to do some work in the library, or else to find the websites that have this kind of information. It would be defeating the purpose of your assignment if someone here were to do the research for you and send it to you in a single message, now wouldn't it? And by direct email, so you needn't even check out the list again? Oh, dear! Good luck with your report. I'm sure you'll do it well. Do try the county's website. I think you'll find what you need there. ....BettyC

Subject: Searching for Williams and Moore Family Line Date: Mon, 27 Mar 2000 21:50:10 -0800 (PST) From: "Pearlie Tilery" <ptilery@bellsouth.net> To: <scwillia-l-request@rootsweb.com> I am searching for information on the August Williams, who was possibly a slave or his mother was, although he was of mixed parentage. He was born in 1845, later was married to first Catherine and then to Susan. He fought in the Civil War. He lived in the area of Salters and died in 1910 or 1911. I am also interested in the family line of Ben Moore, also of Salters, South Carolina or maybe even Lane. One of his relatives "Doctor" Nettie Moore, was possibly a midwife and a slave who lived in Williamsburg County. Thank you for any information anyone can pass on about these ancestors.

THERE IS A TOMMY BOYD IN SALTERS THAT MAY BER ABLE TO HELP YOU . YOU CAN FIND HIM THE WHITE PAGES.
Hello, I am looking for information on John Boyd who enlisted in the 1st SC Cavalry, Co H and was honorably discharged on April 26, 1865. He served in Mo. and the information listed on his military records which are in Mo. is the name and address of his daughter, Mary Boyd Valentine, 4256 Maryland, St Louis, Mo, and her son William Boyd Valentine. I have a relative named John Boyd who went with his brother Vance Marion Boyd to Kansas and then to Missouri in the late 1850's. It is said John married in St Joseph, Mo. And that they both died in the Civil War. So I am not sure the above John Boyd is my John who was born in Clarendon Co, SC. He was the son of William V. Boyd and Maria Agnes Ervin b 2/25/1816 Clarendon Co, SC d 8/1857 Kingstree, SC. He was the grandson of Robert William Ervin, MD, b 1786 d 9/5/1849, Lancaster, SC and Louisa Agnes Martha Stukes b 5/19/1797 Clarendon Co.,SC, d 9/5/1885 Walhalla, SC. Any help determining if the John Boyd who joined the Confederacy in Rock Hill is the John Boyd I am looking for will be greatly appreciated. If anyone can claim this John Boyd when one of the others on record in Mo. is mine. Thank you. Terry Griffin Britt (female)

Hello to All I would like to know how to get excess to the South Carolina Death Index. Thanks Jean/SC jhcarter@cetlink.net
Marci: I am looking at the dates again. Maybe this isn't my Mary Ann. Her oldest child according to his death certificate was born in 1876, she would have been 14 years old, not that it is impossible. I am wondering if his death certificate could be wrong on the birth year for the next old child was born 1887. That is quite a bit of a spread in the births. What do you think?
