I have several William Thompsons in a Thompson book that my brother in law is working on. Wm Thompson died in 1774, his son Wm Thompson Jr., in 1739, m. Hannah Swinton, his son Wm Thompson III, no date of birth given but married a Lydia Singletary. I also passed this info to my brother-in-law, Joseph "Dean" Thompson, he may have more since this book. Donna
Dear Donna: William Thompson (died in 1838) worked as an overseer on two plantations (Friendfield [now part of Hobcaw Barony] and Waites Point [which was in Georgetown Cty or Horry Cty.]). His ancestors were probably from England. However, he left more than 300 acres of land to his mulatto son, Nelson. Nelson married Nellie Washington (also a mulatto, according to the Census data) at Chicora Wood Plantation (formerly Matanzas) on the Great Pee Dee River. (Read Them Dark Days: Slavery in the American Rice Swamps by William Dusinberre.) There are Thompsons in FL, KY, MD, NC, NJ, NY, SC, Sweden, . . . and of course, England. The Thompson web site is at http://home.earthlink.net/~renascence. My web page is at http://home.earthlink.net/~renascence/diana.htm. DianaPoet@aol.com (212) 368-8293

Diana, what Thompsons are you looking for. Donna W. Thompson
Looking for information on my "Brick wall" I have an Eleanor Poston born 3/15/1849 and died 6/22/1925 in Williamsburg County. She was married to Irwin Hanna. Thanks Patti Hanna-Thompson
Hi Donna, I confused! Adam Strain (died. c. 1762) m. Margaret unknown. Their daughter Martah married James Cooper who were the parents of Adam Cooper. Question: was Isabel James Cooper sister or was she Adam Cooper's daughter. Patti Hanna Thompson Donna Witt wrote: > Hi Heather & "cousins", > > I have been using this theory about Jane (?) Would like to touch base with any kin to Alexander McKnight and John Gotea. Would especially like to get in touch with kin of William Gibson and Joseph Edward McKnight. Hubby is kin to their brother Benjamin Franklin McKnight! JONI
Dear Patti Hanna Thompson: I am searching for fellow Thompsons, Daniels, Mays, Blakes, Hales, Washingtons, Betons (or Betous) and Gallants. My ancestors in the 1800s lived in or near the following counties: Georgetown, Williamsburg, Kershaw, and Bamberg. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Sincerely, Diana Thompson
Does anyone know anything about the 3rd SC Regiment in the Rev War? Where was it headquartered? Who was the CO? Was Marion's Brigade a part of it? Dorothy
Glad to hear that I'm not the only South Carolinian who came to Southern California Dorothy
I abbreviated South Carolina out of laziness. My mom is from San Francisco, married a Clarendon County boy (war bride), lives in Myrtle Beach SC, and gives me the "Halleluia Californina" lecture often. Irene

Forgive me, it's early and I was up late last night. Bob
Doing research on my maternal side, (Not SC) ran into this: PARKER- At the ranch of J. F. Thorn, near Quartzburg, Mariposa County California, July 29th 1889, RODERICK PARKER, a native of SC died aged 67 years. Hope someone can use it. Irene Miles Thomas

John, By LA do you mean Louisianna or Los Angeles? Dorothy
Do you have any info on their relationship to John, James and Sarah Marshall? Dorothy
If anyone is interested I have a little information on a Alexander, Stephanie Ann, William Thomas and a William Thomas Jr. Marshall Diana
I don't know much about these folks, but recall that a number [?] of them ended up in LA, probably East Felecianna. [I don't believe that is spelled right] where a large family developed. John
John, Is there any evidence anywhere to show that James Marshall was son of this John Marshall? Those years seem to be missing from my books. Thanks Dorothy
