I have no information on this reunion. The Barr's I know, are in-laws to cooper's in Kingstree SC.
Dear Bryce's Mom, I haven't seen ANY messages on a Cooper-Rutledge reunion. ALL I have seen are the countless messages from people who REFUSE or just don't know how to change the subject line. People, please!! When you hit the reply key to any message, THAT subject line is going to come up automatically with RE: in front. Please, please, CHANGE it to something appropriate to your message UNLESS you are responding SPECIFICALLY to that particular message. We will all be able to more easily help you IF you would do this. I need info on the COOPER-RUTLEDGE reunion. I read the msg that showed the BARR family is related to these families. I live in Houston, Texas and would possibly like to attend this reunion. Thank you. Londa Barr
I am from the McDonald's, Darby's, Ford's & Chandler's of Georgetown, SC. These families migrated from Gourdine, and Lane SC. The Chandler Family reunion will be held, August 4, 5 & 6th, 2000 in Kingstree, SC. The Host motel will be the Best Western Inn of Kingstree, on Longstreet. The week following will be another family reunion in Georgetown, hosted by the Fords. I don't have this information as of yet.
Which reunion? The Thompsons, who are the descendants of William T. Thompson (overseer who died in 1838), Nelson Thompson (his mulatto son, a landowner; c1830-1872), Nelly Washington Thompson (mulatto; wife of Nelson; born c1835 @ Chicora Wood Plantation), and Milly (Nelly's mother; supposedly of Guinean ancestry), will enjoy each other July 28-30,2000. You are welcome to participate, even if you are not related, if you have helpful information. The cost is $35 per person; $22 for children between 3 and 12 years old. The Thompsons have a cousin who escaped (with his wife and children) from slavery (Exchange Plantation) July 4, 1864. His name is Stephen Gallant. He was the valet to Gov. Allston. Several books mention these relations. They are: Them Dark Days: Slavery in the American Rice Swamps by William Dusinberre, Chronicles of Chicora Wood, and A Woman Rice Planter. The last two books are by Elizabeth Pringle, a daughter of Gov. Allston. If you do not plan to stay the full weekend, just visit us at one of the events. Friday evening, we will be at the Carolinian Inn. Saturday afternoon we will be at Huntington Beach. Sunday morning, we will worship at Bethel A.M.E. Church. Please tell me about your interest and your reunion. Diana Thompson

There will be a Chandler Family reunion held the 1st weekend of August, 2000 in Kingstree, South Carolina. The family ties are as follows: Chandler, Wisdom, Sabb, Cooper, Epps, Darby, Barr, Davis, Wilson, Wallace.
We also have a Thompson reunion at Santee State Park. It is usually the first weekend in Oct., I'll let you know for sure. I know they have been having this reunion for at least 11 years. I'll let my brother in law know about yours but, I'm sure I won't be able to make it. Thanks, Donna
Thank you, Bob. Diana
During times when this list gets busy, it would really be helpful, if folks would change the subject line when they change the thread of discussion. I understand how the above got started and progressed, but as the chain of discussion became more Thompson oriented it would be nice to have the subject read "Thompson". It also would make it easier to find 3 months from now, the discussion on the Thompson family. If you are looking for this discussion down the road in your files, I'm going to bet you will never think to look under "Cooper, Rutledge". Thanks, Bob Robert Cooper Manning, Jr Atlanta rcmjr@aol.com
There were also a few William Thompsons in Kershaw County, SC during the 1700 and 1800s. Diana
Dear Donna: Thank you so much. I hope to stay in contact with you and your brother-in-law. The 2nd Thompson Reunion will be in Georgetown, SC July 28-30.
