A brick wall cam tumbling down yesterday when a Pridmore descendent who is new to genealogy emailed me with the name and birthdate( from her family records)of Nancy the wife of Thomas Pridmore (1794-1878) of Union Co. SC. She was Nancy Crocker born 2/6/1802, died 11/21/1857. This Nancy Crocker was my ggg-grandmother. I have always thought that Nancy's father's name must have been Jacob because she named her oldest son Jacob, and the name Jacob was not used in the Pridmore family. There was a Jacob Crocker who was in the right place at the right time. He was listed in the 1810 and 1820 census and he was in Union Co. by 1803. This man is probably Nancy's father. 1820 CROCKER, JACOB minister at Scull Shoals Baptist church in early 1800s Union County, SC 134 022201-11001 This Jacob Crocker was also a preacher at El Bethel Baptist church in 1802 and moved over to Scull Shoals in 1805, both churches in the area of Union Co. where the Pridmores lived. (Many Pridmore descendents were members of the Scull Shoals and El Bethel Church). In 1828, Jacob Crocker moved to Pickens Co. AL where John Pridmore ( father of Thomas) moved. I got this information from the Union Co. Heritage book. I just checked the 1810 census and Jacob did have a daughter under 10. There is also a Hopkins Crocker who was a cousin of Jacob who had a daughter under 10. With Nancy naming her oldest son Jacob, my gut feeling is that her father was Jacob Crocker. Any information about the Crockers of Union Co SC especially Jacob and Hopkins would be appreciated. Thanks, Susan -- -- Susan C.
