Thank you friend for your response. We have discussed this matter briefly before. I had found maybe three people who lived in the immediate areas, and so I engaged them to do the research. I am in no way criticizing their efforts, but they were unsuccessful mainly in discovering anything. The only identifiable character that we know anything about is COL. JAMES M. GADBERRY of Union County. He did leave a will, and I was able to reconstruct a tentative sibling listing, but our main goal of identifying his parents has never been reached. The name is rare, and thus far any GADBERRY that has turned up in SC are members of the family we are researching. I have one more, possible source of information and am waiting on a response from the State of Idaho. This, likely, could also be a failure.
