    2. "The Free Lance" Issue August 5, 1904 UNION: Capt. E. L. CLARK, who has been manger of the clothing department of the Union Cotton Mills Department store for a number of years resigned his position on Saturday, and after a month's rest will begin September 1 with the Baily-Copeland Co. of this city. Mr. McCANTS, who has been stenographer for the C. E. LIPSCOMB Co. has resigned his position and left yesterday for Spartanburg. P. C. HUDLEY, who is at the head of the clothing department of the Mutual Dry Goods Co., returns Monday after a week with relatives and friends in Virginia. Mrs. M. C. HUNTER of Marion spent several days the past week with her sister, Mrs. C. E. LIPSCOMB and left Monday for Glenn Springs. Dr. B. G. CLIFFORD returns this week from quite a stay in Buffalo, his wife and daughter remaining there the remainder of the summer. D. T. DUNCAN left the first of the week to spend several weeks in Virginia. J. S. THOMAS, who was taken to a hospital in Atlanta last week is improving and his family left Monday to make their home in Spartanburg. Miss Minnie SCOFIELD leaves in a few days for a visit to her parents in Davidson, N.C. Mr. and Mrs. James ALLAN and Miss Amey ALLAN of Charleston, who have been guests at Mrs. Wm. A. NICHOLSON's for the past two weeks leave today for Marion, N.C., to visit Miss Isabel ALLAN. Free Post Lisa
