    2. Gilkie (or Gilkey as current maps convey) and Thicketty Creeks are both in Cherokee County. Cherokee was formed out of northern Union County (and part of western York Co. about 1897). Nearest town is Gaffney (15,000 /-). Gilkie and Thicketty flow together before running into the Broad River. Several small crossroad communities around the area(Gowdesville, Mt. Tabor, etc.).
