Patsy Holt from the Cherokee County SCGenWeb Page (http://cherokee.ourfamily.com) can probably tell you more than you ever wanted to know about this community and can direct you to other resources there. Visit the page and send her an email.... Note too that Cherokke was formed from parts of Union, York, and Spartanburg Counties in 1897. The present county seat of Gaffney was then located in Spartanburg County... C. Cherokee was formed out of northern Union County (and part of western York Co. about 1897). Nearest town is Gaffney (15,000 /-). Gilkie and Thicketty flow together before running into the Broad River. Several small crossroad communities around the area(Gowdesville, Mt. Tabor, etc.). Good luck on your search.
