My main Bailey is Susannah Bailey, the daughter of John Harrison Bailey and Mary Winn. She married William Lawson. I think she is my 5th great-grandmother. Some researchers have concluded that Sion Lawson was William's son by his first marriage, but I have a hunch that Susannah Bailey was his mother. The Bailey name has been passed down through many generations of the family, including my great-grandmother's brother whose name was John Bailey Lawson. This naming pattern happened too frequently and too long in the descendants of Sion Lawson, Sr. for Susannah to be a "step" mother I would think. Susannah's brother Harrison Bailey married my 3rd and 4th great-aunt (confusing I know), Margaret Duke. Margaret was the daughter of Major Duke and Elizabeth Drury. Her sister Priscilla married Sion Lawson (making them my 4th great-grandparents). Her sister Amanda "Amy" married Thomas Smith (making them my 3rd great-grandparents).
