There is such an Indenture in the book: "Union County, South Carolina Marriage Records" published by Pinckney District Chapter of South Carolina Genealogical Society. The indenture is dated 10 July 1840, Proved 24 July 1844, Recorded 29 July 1844. The notes mentioned [somebody step in here if I'm wrong] would be debt {IOU;s} -- I don't know if copies of these notes are in the original file - I have seen them in probate files. Lisa
