Does anyone have any information on the Mills of Old District 96? I have seen the Mills Atlas Book and have found the mill I'm looking for. I'm trying to find some history about it now. It was Garrett's Grist and Saw Mill (as listed on the Union Co map) or Garrett's Mill (as listed on the lauren's Co map). It was owned an opperated by John Garrett from the late 1700s to the early 1800s at which time John died and his children sued his wife, their mother, who inherited the mill in order that they could shut it down. There are experts everywhere online, there has to be an expert on old mills! :) And.. what is Grist? Is this some sort of lumber mill? Thanks, ~LauraS __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! - Official partner of 2002 FIFA World Cup http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com
Many of you may have already made the same mistake that I did and opened a message that appeared to come from RootsWeb with the subject line "plagarism". Trust me, it isn't from RootsWeb but from some sort of spamming engine. Unlike a virus, it doesn't do any damage but it goes to everybody in you inbox and address book and it appears to be from somebody else who was in your inbox or address book! If you want to send a message that actually has to do with plagarism, please call it spaghetti or something until this thing runs it's course! And, if you have not already done so, don't open the darn things. If one show up in your e-mail, just delete it immediately. Isn't it a shame that folks who are smart enough to get something like this to work don't put that knowledge to better use? They might cure cancer or bring about peace in the Middle East (yeah)! As you will see below, RootsWeb is upgrading their servers and messages will probably stop for a while over the next few days - depending on when they get around to our server. They don't expect to lose any messages, so go ahead and send as usual. There may be a delay before they show up in mailboxes, though, so have a little patience. Your list mom, Mickey Beginning Monday, 10 June 2002, RootsWeb will begin the complex and time-consuming process of upgrading our servers to new hardware. o What does this mean for you? Well, it means some servers will be unavailable during this time unavailable and we are asking for your patience. For up-to-date information about the different resources, you can visit http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/ as the move progresses. o List Administrators: When the time comes to move list servers, we will be halting operation on the machine to complete the move. We expect to have the machines down the least amount of time possible. No mail will be sent from or posted to your mailing lists. We do not expect to lose any messages. o Board Administrators: Nothing, unless your board happens to be gatewayed to a mailing list then the information for list administrators apply. o Web Pages: FTP will be down so that changes can't be made to pages until everything is working correctly on the new servers. There will be a short time that the pages will not be available as the transfer takes place. Thank you for your patience and understanding while we go through a few "growing pains." Hi! I saw your information posted on the list and thought I might give you a little suggest. It is very helpful if you add approximate dates as to when these people may have been in Union Co, Sc. I got a lot of hits on my data doing that. It's good to see someone knew on the list....I love genealogy and wish you loads of luck. Also try GenWeb and Rootsweb for "surnames". You may get some data there. Good luck and happy hunting... A friend..

June I'm searching for information on Charity WADE (b ca 1695 NJ; d mid-1700s VA). She married Joseph BALLINGER, Sr.; and they had 7 children. I do not know her parents. I would like to have a copy of your file. Any help will be appreciated. Jeannine
Hi, I am June. If you are researching any Wades, I am the one who sends out the Ed Wade file. I would be glad to send it to anyone who may want it. I have a WordPad or a gedcom. It is huge, 13000 Wades and allied family members. All we ask is, please share your Wades if they match and if you see anything that needs correcting, please let us know. I also know several people who are researching Zachary Wade's line, if you think you belong to that line. We haven't found a connection yet between the two. Just let me know, we share all. I think so. Joey Gainey, Faye Berry, or any of the other folks are wonderful to work with. I think the Quarterly is very helpful - a lot of useful information and a lot of interesting information. I would highly recommend it. Hi, I am June. I am the one that sends out the huge Ed Wade file. It has the Wades that came in thru Virginia and quite a few of them ended up in the Carolinas and some went farther West after they left Carolina. The file has 13000 wade family members and allied family members. It has been compiled by me and another Wade family member to send out to anyone who may want to have it. The information in it is as accurate as we can get. The info was sent to us by folks like yourself, to share with others. I have a gedcom that fits Family Tree Maker or a Wordpad. If you want a copy just let me know which one you would like. I will be happy to send any to you. Which wade line are you in, What's your older Wade?
