    3. Thanks Bruce.  Very helpful.   Well the good news is that I got us back one more generation to Peter John's Father.   The bad news is that:   I can not find evidence that John Sheridan (b1828/1829)'s father Peter lived in Scotland, which I doubt, and don't even know where to begin searching in Ireland.   The fact that I have no name of John's Mother does not help as well.   John's wife's (Elizabeth Pringle/Sheridan/Mackay)'s  death certificate on Scotlands people did NOT contain the name of her parent/s.   Any advice on where next to look would be greatly appreciated.   All the best and, Have fun. I have confused you with that raw format. Arnsheen was the parish of residence of John's son, Peter SHERIDAN, who was the informant. Peter's residence was Knockycoid, a farm in that parish. Knockycoid is in Ayrshire, which is the county immediately to the north of the county of Wigtownshire, Scotland. The census returns for both 1861 and 1871 state that John SHERIDAN was born in Ireland, so its likely that his father was from Ireland, but we can't be sure of that, or if he also went to Scotland. John's parents were both deceased at the time of his death. M.S. is an abbreviation for maiden surname. Hope this helps. Don't hesitate to ask further questions. Regards, Bruce
