In transcribing Old Parish Birth records for Kirkmaiden Parish back in 1720 I`ve come across the following: 01 Dec 1720 - John Gray - Chirurgeon - Apothecary in Stranraer - and Margaret Adair lawful daughter to the deceased William Adair of Curgy [Curgie] were Married on the 1st of December 1720 years. Chirurgeon .... It took a while to figure out what the meaning of this word is ... ?? Anyone ?? Wayne
