Hello again fellow Listers; While having a look at the Galloway Gazette today, online of course, I came across a most interesting article on the building of the Cree Bridge. Many local names are mentioned and it is well worth reading by you people with an interest in Newton Stewart and Minnigaff. Such goings on! http://www.gallowaygazette.co.uk/news/local-headlines/cree-bridge-bi-centenary-come-about The first bridge built in 1745 was at the foot of the Salt Box Brae, and was washed away in 1806. The new bridge was built in 1813 and is still going strong. I hope that you can get the Gazette with little trouble because this is a great wee story. Regards from Sunny Vancouver, Olive.
