Hello Alan - is the list you mention in your email of 19 march, which your father compiled of the Kirkmaiden farmers, available for research? My forbears were Keltons who ran the mill in the parish for several decades, certainly from 1841 until around 1881. Also High Curghie is adjacent to the small village/hamlet also called Kirkmaiden which contains about 6 houses and the Church. In fact the farm is less than 200 yards from the Churchyard. So If George McBride was buried locally here it would be in Kirkmaiden Churchyard. There is definitely no mention of him in the booklet of Monumental Inscriptions in the Old Churchyard so it is likely he would be buried in the new Churchyard which is not covered by the booklet. I was there yesterday but I live 100 miles away so only visit every few months. Next time I visit I could look for his grave - there are approx 100-200 in the new Churchyard. Or there may be a local Lister who could do it sooner. >> >> Coincidence 1 :About 25 years ago my late father compiled a list of tenants of all the farms in Kirkmaiden. It shows G McBride as tenant of High Curghie from 1838 until 1857. >> >> Coincidence 2: The tenant who followed George was my Great great grandfather Charles McIntyre who farmed there from 1857 until 1872. My great grandfather James McIntyre was born there in 1869. He undertook a trip to Australia in 1889 to visit 2 uncles who had a shipping business (I think in Melbourne). He then returned to farm Logan Mains. >> >> I am new to this list and my first reply to you was direct to your email as it was easy for me to do. I guess I should have it posted on the wiglist page so that others can see it and possibly build on my info.I will try to do that. >> >> Regards >> >> Alan ------------------------------
