Did you manage to get your photo and history of Merton Hall. I live in the stable block, Merton Stables and walk past the door every day. The corner of our building was the bothy for the stables and when horses faded out we think the stable manager became the chaufer and lived in the two rooms upstairs - with outside stair case, still there. We have had a number of visitors over the years who have had a relative being born or died in the bothy. I have heard of your family name and coud try to get more info from the local farmer, whos family used to be tennent farmers in the hall.
