Hi Bruce - Simply put, you are awesome - I cannot thank you enough for the help. A couple points and new info: 1. I also agree that it is unlikely that John's Father Peter lived in Scotland. I have his death listed as June 27, 1853 but I do not know where. 2. Elizabeth Pringle/Sheridan/Mackay's parent were George Pringle and Jane Pike/Peak (conflicting spellings on records). I hope that helps. I also found records that there was a George Pringle in the Dumfries jail at some point. Thanks again, Kevin Kevin A. The fact that I have no name of John's Mother does not help as well. John's wife's (Elizabeth Pringle/Sheridan/Mackay)'s death certificate on Scotlands people did NOT contain the name of her parent/s. Any advice on where next to look would be greatly appreciated. <snip> Hi Kevin, Following our phone conversation earlier today my time, I was inspired to take a further look at <http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk> I don't currently have active credits, but by use of the index, I found the following: Statutory Registers / Marriages: Elizabeth PRINGLE married John McKAY in 1877 in parish of Penninghame, Wigtownshire. This registration should name Elizabeth PRINGLE's parents. Catholic Registers / Banns & Marriages: Elizabeth PRINGLE married John SHIRDEAN (sic) 26 May 1853 at Newton Stewart Our Lady and St Ninian. The odd spelling of SHIRDEAN for SHERIDAN was the tricky bit. I haven't accessed any of these Catholic marriage records, so don't know what to expect in the way of detail, but I suspect that you may find the credits well spent. Good luck, Bruce
