Hi All Thank you tp those who work on the Wigtownshire Pages website. I found my G.G.Grandmother's record of Death on this site. Her name was Mary Ann Milligan and she was married to Peter McDowall. At the time she died Peter was a coachman for Sir James Hay. Would anyone have any information they could tell me about Sir James Hay, his family, where they lived and what Sir James did for a living? Mary Ann died in 1843 and they were living in Dunragit at the time. I have an Old Parish Record of a marriage on 15/6/1946 for Mr. Peter McDowall of Dunragit and Margaret McKie of Kirkcowan. I wondered if my G.G. Grandfather married again. This Peter had a son, William (my G. Grandfather ?) and a daughter Margaret( born to him and Mary Ann). However, it says on the 1851 Census that Peter was a Ploughman.
