Hi Doug If the date of Mary's death was after 1855, when Civil Registration began, then you ought to be able to find her Death certificate in www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk It will cost 6 Pounds for 30 credits. By the way you cannot take for granted everything you read. Whether it be censuses, certificates or tombstones. It's not always the person concerned who fills in the details. Ages at death are frought with error. The deceased aren't there to argue. Here are two examples of discrepancies out of quite a few in my tree. My ggrandfather is shown as being born in Bannockburn in the 1881 Census. He was born in Cadder according to his Birth Certificate. He lived in Bannockburn from infancy so assumed he was born there and never bothered to look at his Birth Certificate. My mother, who was the best person I have ever known with numbers, was the informant for her mother's death certificate. My grandmother died in NSW, Australia and the names and ages of the progeny of the deceased are shown on the death certificate. My mother was so distraught that she got her OWN age incorrect. Great fun though.
