Trevor, I'm almost positive we are distant cousins! I checked the dates of Margaret(within the year)and Mary(off by 2 years). I went to Scotland's People and found the death registration. Lucky he died in 1855. Informant William McClelland, there he is again. I did a search in Scotland's People for him and came up with one hit, in Kirkinner. He died in 1865. The year on my gr-gr-gr-grandparents tombstone! He died at Bridge of Bladnoch, which seems close to Low Barness and to Ballaird Farm, where Mary Stevenson Craney was living before they left for the US in 1855. I have information on the descendants of Margaret and Mary. My father's mother was actually born in Australia, in Bondi in 1889. The family left in 1905 for New York City. My father says that she spent most of her life wishing she was back in Sydney.
