Hello All, My family left Scotland in May 1775 from Port Stranraer via the Jackie of Glasgow and traveled to US and settled in North Carolina. We have had research completed by Debrett that traces us back to Wigtonshire/New Luce/Inch. Our family (6 of us) are planning a visit to Scotland this summer and would like to meet some of our distant cousins, if the interest in us is strong. We would also like to attend Church where our ancestors attended if possible, and see the cemeteries where they may be buried. Please advise any information you may have of the following family: John Dalrymple in Muill, Kircowan, later in Mark of Luce, died in 1767 aged 83. Married Mary McWhinney circa 1722. They had the following children: 1. James b. circa 1724 married Margaret Milnay. James d. circa 1774. Had children John, William, Mary, Elizabeth and Margaret (possibly Janet and Agnes) 2. John b. circa 1726 married Margaret Gordon. Emigrated to North Carolina with his family of six children 3. Alexander, date of birth unknown. Living in Mark of Luce. Father of John and James (the latter possibly born in 1777) 4. William, date of birth unknown. Possibly married to Agnes McClellan and father of John who was born in Old Luce in 1774, residing in Liverpool in 1817. 5. Thomas, born 1736 (OPR entry) Probably in Upper Mandorke in 1775 when he acted as cautioner for Alexander Dalrymple when Alexander was appointed as executor to his father, John. 6. Archibald born in 1727 died 1768 (death entries for Old Luce) Thank you in advance for your help and interest. Best Regards, Kathy Brooks Jordan 1424 Pumping Station Road Sanford, NC USA
