    3. Hi Jenny It wasn't compulsory to register children's births before 1855 in Scotland. Any birth/baptism records available through Scotlands people or the IGI are records from the Church of Scotland parishes churches. If Ebenezer was born/baptised into any other religion then there may be no records, lost or missing records or if you are lucky the will be in the National Archives of Scotland (NAS), you can check what archives are available at the following link. http://www.dswebhosting.info/NAS/dserve.exe?dsqApp=Site20&dsqDb=Catalog&dsqCmd=Search.tcl with regard to census records 1841 census, St Marys Parish, Glasgow, Lanarkshire Address - Trongate St Ebenezer Bradfoot, 40, Bookseller & Stationer , b. Ebenezer's mothers name is possibly Nicholas McKinnal. I have no record as yet of any marriage between William Broadfoot and Nicholas McKinnal although they did have two children one in 1800 and 1805 I have found Ebenezer on the 1841 census in Glasgow, where it states that he was born in Newton Stewart, Ebenezer died in 1864 in Glasgow aged 73 years and it is recorded on his death certificate that he was a Land Surveyor, it also states that his parents were William Broadfoot and Nicholas McKinnal both deceased. I would like help to find his birth records, I have searched Scotland's Peoples OPR record on line and LDS records I have also searched some of the records at the Dumfries and Galloway FHS offices but have drawn a blank, any advice or help would be much appreciated.
