G'day All, Thank you to every one who assisted with my search for the family and descendants of George SMITH (1878-1969). I am now after further information on one of his sons-in-law, William THOMSON. I have now obtained the death certificate for William. Based on information on it, and on his marriage certificate, it seems that he worked on the railways in various capacities during his life, including locomotive cleaner and engine driver. What railway company/ies operate/d in Stranraer during the period from c. 1920-1970? Where might there employment records be held? And are they accessible to family historians? Also, could sks check the WFP to see if there is a death/burial notice or obituary for William? He died on 1 January 1973 in his home at 52 Murrayfield Avenue.
