Meikle Castle is shown on the 1848 Ordnance Survey map at http://www. british-history.ac.uk/mapsheet.asp?x=16&y=228&sheetid=9131&ox=4292&oy=2660&zm=1&czm=1 but, as you noted, I could not see any ruins or house on the aerial view on Multimap. The name of "Castel Donnel" interested me in that the Irish "Donnell" may have been changed in Scotland to "Dougal" or "Douall", and families of that name may have gone to the area about 1500s or earlier.
