Jim, I am a little confused by your data...the couple I know about at High Ardwell in Stoneykirk in the 1851 Census were Thomas KERR, Farmer, age 62, born Stranraer and wife Mary (maiden surname McKAY), age 59, born Ayrshire. They wed on 18 Dec 1832 in Stranraer and this Thomas had the following children with Mary: 1. Elisabeth Hamilton KERR - IGI/OPR-Birth, 1851 Census Female Christening: 09 JUL 1834 Stoneykirk, Wigtown, Scotland 2. Mary KERR - IGI/OPR-Birth Female Christening: 28 OCT 1835 Stoneykirk, Wigtown, Scotland 3. Alexander KERR - IGI/OPR-Birth, 1851 Census ** named Thomas in ’ 51 Census? ** Male Christening: 26 OCT 1840 Stoneykirk, Wigtown, Scotland 4. Margaret Helen KERR - IGI/OPR-Birth, 1851 Census Female Christening: 09 AUG 1844 Stoneykirk, Wigtown, Scotland 5. Victoria KERR - IGI/OPR-Birth, 1851 Census Female Christening: 16 AUG 1847 Stoneykirk, Wigtown, Scotland Children 1, 3, 4 and 5 can be found with the parents in the 1851 Census at High Ardwell. (This is the same couple--with children 1, 2, and 3--that are living at High Ardwell in the 1841 Census; Thomas' uncle John HAMILTON, 70, widower, is living with them also.) I saw the entries for Elisabeth Hamilton KERR (1811) and Thomas KERR (1812) born to Thomas KERR and Grace McCLURE, as well as the son John (1814) born to Thomas KERR and Mary CRAWFORD. It is possible that your Thomas KERR actually married three times, rather than just twice?
