    3. Hi Chrissie, Although there is no connection as far as I'm aware between our McDOWALL lines, by coincidence, my ggg'grandparents were William McDOWALL & Agnes THOMPSON, (parish of Kirkinner). I have transcribed the following records from the LDS films of the OPRs. Some of this is relevant to your family, some possibly relevant. Kirkmaiden: Sara, lawful daughter to Agnes Thompson & Alexr McDowall in Garrochtree, was born the 11th & bapd the 17th Decemr 1805 John, lawful son to Alexr McDowall and Agnes Thompson & in Barncorkrie, was born the 6th & bapd the 11th Decr 1808 Nancy, lawful daughter to Alexr McDouall, & Agnes Thompson & in Potnessock, born the 10th and bapd the 13th Augt 1815 Stoneykirk: John McDowall & Sarah Lowrey, both residing in this Parish have given in their names in Order to proclamation of Banns. They were regularly proclaimed on the 7th and married by the Revd Robt McNeil on the 11th day of Novr 1841 – Robt McNeil Modr. 1842 / John McDowall & Sarah Lowrie in Caldons had a lawful Daughter / Agnes / 5th March / 10th April Kirkinner: 1818 / Dec 6 Todd William & Mary Ann McEwen Minnigaff. Wigtown: 1820 / April 23 / William Tod Marianne McEwen / Mary born 16th / Bridge Bladnoch Penninghame: 1823 / William Tod and Mary Ann McEwan had a lawful child Born 10th October & Baptized the 2d Novr named John 1826 / William Tod and Mary Ann McEwan had a lawful child Born 28th February and Baptized the 26th March 1826 named Elizabeth 1828 / William Tod & Mary Anne McEwen had a lawful child Born 5th August & Baptized the 17th named James Was your Elizabeth TODD born in the parish of Penninghame? If so, this could be her family, as her age is a good match. I couldn't help noticing the time between the marriage of John McDOWALL & Sarah LOWRIE, and the birth of Agnes. My g'grandfather and his first wife had a similar 'short gestation period', and as a result, were called before the Kirk Session to be rebuked. If you are interested in pursuing that sort of thing, you could try for Kirk Session Minutes, held by National Archives in Edinburgh. Regards, Bruce
