Window Tax Records 1748 and 1795 in the Scottish Record Office (E.326/1/59, E.326/1/60 and E.326/1/61) There are seldom more than 7 or 8 entries for any year. In 1748 there were only five entries. Sir Thomas Maxwell was in Orchyardton (sic), John Coulter in Kirkennan. William Maxwell in Munches, John Canon in BARLOCHAN,(Strong may have been there later ?) Rev. John McNaught in the Manse. 1750 was the same, but the surveyor had been refused entry to Orchardton to assess it! In 1754, Nathaniel Duke in Leaths, Mrs. Cannon in BARLOCHAN, John MacCartney in Halket Leaths. In 1758, Samuel Coupland in Curcro / Cora.
