The present Kirkcudbright Parish Church, Scotland dates from 1838. Parts of a much older church are to be found near the harbour. Greyfriar's Kirk is all that is left of a Franciscan monastery that stood here, and dates from the 16th century. Within it is the tomb erected in 1597 of Sir Thomas MacLellan of Bombie and his wife Grizzell Maxwell, which was erected in 1597. Nearby, in Castle Street, are the substantial ruins of MacLellan's Castle, built by Sir Thomas Maclellan who lies in the Greyfriar's Kirk. Thomas MACLELLAN m. Itoun may be in Kirkandreis, Parish of Borgue, Kirkcudbrightshire ? Would anyone have a list of male births for the surname Adair in Kirkcudbrightshire c.1580-1700? Thankyou.
