The ban is for 'photocopies' or 'images' of these documents, there are no bans for viewing them. Since ScotlandsPeople deals in transferring the images to your computer screen, its bound by the banned years. In Scotland, its completely legal to view any Birth, Marriage and Death registrations up to about 2005 or 2006 [it takes more than a year to get the newest registration documents indexed and the originals viewable at NRH]. A researcher can get you information from NRH for a pretty small fee but a volunteer is much better ! MegG in OK Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
