>From Wigtown Free Press 3rd May, 2007 THE WAY WE WERE - WFP 2ND MAY, 1907 "The trial of Thomas Camden McClelland, charged with the murder of Miss Jane Broadfoot, Westmains, Kirkinner Parish, is expected to take place about the middle of May. The first diet will be held at Dumfries, and the trial will take place in Edinburgh. The murder was committed on April 5th 1899. The accused, who was certified insane at the time of the murder, has been confined to the asylum until recently, when he was released on the ground of his having recovered his reason. On his release he was again committed to prison to await his trial. The accused is a nephew of the murdered woman, and a son of a Wigtownshire Farmer."
